The Romans had some specific philosophers. However, the philosophy for them is order, or getting to the point. The Romans were very practical people. They always made sure they had it right, and it was reasonable. The Romans knew how to govern extremely effectively, and they were better builders than anyone else. We use their method of making concrete and the Roman arches, and so many more we do not realize. The Romans had a very wise way a strategy and they were great at building empires and conquering other's empires for their economic interests. They knew how to take over, and they were very stern about it. A common Roman philosopher called Marcus Tullius Cicero had a great impact on the Roman government too. Cicero was a brilliant lawyer and he was a head political figure in the Roman Republic.

Philosophy is a system of values and beliefs. Philosophers believed that you could use their minds to understand natural events. One of the first philosophers was Thales. He believed that water the basic material of the world. Over the course of the years, philosophers had other ideas about the universe. These philosophers did not do experiments, and used their brains and careful observance to come up with their theories. In 400 B.C, Democritus thought everything was made up of particles called atoms, and he was proven correct. During the Golden Age and later, many philosophers taught in Greece. Socrates wanted people to have true meaning in their lives. He taught to live by justice and courage. His most important lesson was to “know thyself.” He was taken to court because he questioned people’s beliefs due to his beliefs. He was accused of dishonoring people, and then he poisoned himself and died. Plato, one of Socrates’ students founded a school in Athens called the Academy. He taught a student, Aristotle, who founded his own school, the Lyceum.

Greece and Rome's way of thinking was extremely different in multiple ways. The Greece wanted to find out where ideas came from and more of the process. They were less practical than the Romans and they wanted to find the meaning of life. The Romans were down to the point and more focused, and the Greek were more relaxed and wanted to enjoy life. In conclusion, Rome was more into battle and architecture and Greece was into the arts more such as Literature and Poetry.
